Entity resolution: Node Grouping and Collapsing

Entity Resolution may introduce many new nodes into your visualization. To simplify exploration, Linkurious Enterprise automatically provides special grouping rules for resolved entities.

Entity resolution grouping rules

A default grouping rule named "Duplicates" is available when Entity Resolution is enabled.

How it works

  • It groups resolved entity nodes and their connected record nodes using the RESOLVED relationship.
  • Supports both ResolvedPersonEntity and ResolvedOrganizationEntity.
  • The group's caption shows the resolved entity's name.

Behavior

  • These grouping rules are not editable or removable.
  • They are only available if Entity Resolution is enabled on the data source.
  • Custom grouping rules remain available and are separated in a separate "Custom rules" section.

Collapsing and expanding node groups

To reduce visual noise, users can collapse or expand grouped nodes.

By default, when enabling a grouping rule, node groups appear as collapsed.

Double-click on a node-group to collapse or expand it.

You can also choose to "Collapse all groups" or "Expand all groups" via right-click in an empty space of the visualization.

Collapsed group appearance

  • A gray circle wraps the collapsed group
  • A badge shows the number of nodes in the group (e.g., x4)
  • If all nodes share a category:
    • Icon and color match the category
  • If mixed categories:
    • Mixed color and a special group icon

⚠️ Collapsed groups do not allow expansion of connections (edges) via double-click. Use the right-click menu to expand connections instead.
